Mary Shirey

Practice Administrator

“My name is Mary. I have been a part of the optometric world since 1996 when my husband, Mark, took us to Memphis, TN to begin his doctorate at Southern College of Optometry. We opened Southern Vision Care in 2005 with a desire to provide a high standard of healthcare, personal service, quality products and a friendly atmosphere. I have worn many hats over the years, but have been the full-time Practice Administrator for the last 3 years. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, travel, reading, music and movies.”

Tracey Cousins

Paraoptometric Technician

“My name is Tracey, and I’ve been an ophthalmic technician for over 23 years. During that time I have gained experience in numerous areas including, pediatrics, ocular disease, contact lens, optical and general optometry.  I have been with Dr. Shirey for almost 5 years. Developing strong relationships is the foundation of everything I do, both professionally and personally…it is important to establish a lasting relationship with you, your family, and this community that we serve. I am also a busy mom with a wonderful blended family of 6 kids ranging in age from 28years to 8years old. In addition, I have 5 grandchildren. My youngest daughter is actually 7 months younger than her oldest niece!”

Kristin Salas

Patient Care Associate

“My name is Kristin, and I have worked in patient care for over 2 years. While I am fairly new to the optical field, I strive to continually learn as much as possible about the programs, products and technology that we offer. Doing so allows me to help our team improve the quality of life and overall health of our patients by giving them the best information and experience. I love being the first point of contact for patients whether it is scheduling an appointment over the phone or greeting them as they come through our doors. From those first moments all the way to helping select the right frame, my goal is making patients feel like they are a part of our family! In my downtime, I love spending time with my amazing daughter and my loving husband.”

April Gordon

Paraoptometric Technician

“My name is April and I have been in the optometric field for almost 5 years. As a technician for Dr. Shirey, I enjoy the fact that we can offer our patients state of the art technology. One of our goals is to help our patients have a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I feel our office is more than equipped to offer that experience. We are also able to inspire confidence because we are continually educating ourselves in our field. My passion is to continue to learn and grow in my field. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my 2 adorable children and my wonderful husband. A little fun fact about me…I LOVE all things Chick-fil-a!”
